A calculation aid, not tax advice. Whether GST applies to your tuition fees depends on your registration status and the nature of your services — confirm with your CA.

If you’re doing this per invoice, stop

Calculating tax by hand for thirty invoices is both slow and the easiest place to make an error your CA will find later.

TutorOne applies your configured tax settings to every invoice automatically and produces compliant PDFs with GSTIN and the SAC code — see fee collection and invoicing or read our guide to GST for tuition centres.

Frequently asked questions

Do tuition centres have to charge GST in India?+

It depends on your turnover and the nature of your services — coaching and private tuition are generally taxable supplies, while some formal education is exempt. Registration thresholds also apply. This calculator handles the arithmetic; whether GST applies to you is a question for your CA.

How do I remove GST from a total amount?+

Divide the total by (1 + rate/100). For 18% GST on ₹11,800, the taxable value is 11,800 ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000 and the GST is ₹1,800. Switch this tool to “Remove GST” and it does it for you.

What is the CGST/SGST split?+

For supplies within your own state, GST is divided equally between CGST (central) and SGST (state) — 18% becomes 9% + 9%. For inter-state supplies it is a single IGST charge instead. Tick the inter-state box to see that version.

Does TutorOne generate GST invoices?+

Yes. TutorOne produces GST-compliant invoice PDFs with your GSTIN, the SAC code, tax rate and tax amount, and you can configure whether GST applies based on your registration status.
